Brewing Up by Festive Road
Thursday 3 March - Sunday 3 April 2011
Private View: Thursday 31 March 6pm - 8pm. All welcome*.
Brewing Up, led by MK-based carnival arts company Festive Road, explores the perfect qualities, the right conditions and the many traditions which surround our nation's great tea drinking obsession.
Inspired by Festive Road's interest in different celebratory traditions, this project uncovers important links with Britain's industrial and multi-cultural history and identity. Through 'Brewing Up' Festive Road tell the story of the UK's cultural make-up and identity as a trading nation in the build up to the Olympics. Tea drinking disarms, de-stresses, engages and brings people together. Festive Road provides opportunities for people to take time out of their busy lives and join each other in the 'Brewing Up' experience. 'Brewing Up' is a London 2012 Inspire Mark project.
During 2011 Festive Road will be performing at:
Northampton Carnival, 11 June
Oxford Carnival, 2 & 3 July
The World Picnic, Milton Keynes, 24 July
The Mayors Thames Festival, 11 September
* At this Festive Road Private View artists will describe the opportunities to participate in Brewing Up during 2011 and 2012 . If you know any musicians, performers and makers who might like to get involved, please let them know and bring them along to this event.
Festive Road is an MK based carnival arts company specialising in providing participatory fun for audiences of all ages.
