This event will be of interest to artists and other arts professionals at any stage of their career, art students, and anyone interested in contemporary art. The speakers will examine how the art gallery system works, the structure of different arts organisations and the the reality of running them, from grassroots and artist-led spaces to commercial galleries and their publicly-funded counterpart, with a particular emphasis on their funding and revenue.
This is the first talk in a series programmed by Market Project, a collaborative initiative by eight artists and a curator based in the East of England. Together they are researching the economy of the art market.
