Sound Art

Agency Collaboration: Simon Schaefer/Der Warst and Hill/Wright

Thursday 1 December / 6.45pm, First performance 7.15pm / Free

Welten Bauen/ Building Worlds is the heading under which German artist Simon Schaefer dismantles and reassembles existing computers to build the machines that create live and recorded sound. Circuit bending is the creative customisation of the circuits within electronic devices such as low voltage, battery-powered digital synthesizers to create new musical instruments. Schaefer also uses Gameboys and Nintendo devices and links the manipulated gadgets, which he calls warstruments, with visuals to create an orchestral and sculptural experience.
