English National Ballet:

A Short Dance Response to Peter Dreher's Work
Friday 18 October / 6.30pm /  Free but places limited.

Pre-booking essential from 1 October

MK Gallery is delighted to welcome back English National Ballet Associate Artist, George Williamson, together with selected ENB dancers, to coincide with ENB's world premiere of the ballet Le Corsaire at MK Theatre (17-19 October 2013).  English National Ballet is the UK’s premier touring ballet company.

George Williamson will choreograph a short dance (c.5-10 minutes duration) in response to German artist Peter Dreher's paintings, to be presented within his current exhibition at MK Gallery.  The dance will be performed by Le Corsaire cast members, prior to their perrformance of Le Corsaire at MK Theatre that night.

This event builds on a successful ENB dance response to visual art in MK Gallery last autumn, featuring the work of the influential American photographer James Welling.  It also follows an ENB dance residency workshop at MK Theatre this spring, which concluded with workshop participants giving a public performance responding to themes and work in the Andrea Buttner exhibition, also choreographed by George Williamson.

Tickets

Tickets to this event are free, but, with strictly limited capacity, pre-booking is essential. Bookings, via Eventbrite, open on 1 October.

I was there. Amazing to see dancers so close up, yet so focused. Interesting response to a very difficult challenge! I loved it...  Rima Scott

I thought it was fantastic.  Really blown away by seeing the ENB dancers close up.  Liked how the crowd followed the dancers from one room to the next.  They walk so gracefully too.  Hope they return.  Peter Gorse
