Muscle Shoals

Dir. Greg 'Freddy' Camalier / Cert. PG / 111min

This magnificently sound-tracked documentary showcases the town of Muscle Shoals in segregationist Alabama, that became an oasis of mixed skin colours and musical styles, and a wellspring of hit records.

The film celebrates Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, and the signature sound he developed in songs such as "I'll Take You There", "Brown Sugar", and "When a Man Loves a Woman".

"A long line of ghosts, some famous, others unfairly forgotten, haunts Greg "Freddy" Camalier's splendid music documentary Muscle Shoals"  (John Patterson: The Guardian)
