POSTPONED - Ellen Altfest Drawing Workshop: The Figure

POSTPONED - Ellen Altfest Drawing Workshop: Session Two - The Figure

Wednesday 13 May / 10am - 3pm / £25

Due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Details of the rescheduled event will be made available in the near future.

This workshop is designed for adults with little or no drawing experience.

Ellen Altfest's work draws on some classical concerns of art history, those being still life and the relationship between painter and model.  She infuses her subjects with reverence whilst referring to contemporary life. Skin is rendered in the same way as the surface of a leaf or bark. She works intensively, almost obsessively, looking with ever increasing magnification at her subjects. With these things in mind the workshops will explore the purpose and nature of drawing in the light of Altfest's realism.

The first workshop will involve demonstrations and practise of simple drawing techniques. We will then move on to more experimental, communal projects working with objects similar to those used by Altfest.  In the second workshop we will be exploring ways to produce the figure before working from a life model with Altfest’s approach in mind.

Cally and Gill are Fine Art graduates. They run drawing classes and workshops for adults where they hope to raise the profile of drawing.

There are fifteen places at £25 each.

Please book tickets online or call the Information Desk on 01908 676900.
