The amazing true story of Brian Wilson, the visionary leader of one of the world's biggest bands, the Beach Boys. It's the 1960s, and the Beach Boys are one of the world's most successful pop groups. But their future is thrown into doubt when their leader, Brian Wilson (Paul Dano), suffers a debilitating panic attack and quits touring. With his behaviour becoming increasingly erratic he retires to the studio to work on what will become the band's masterpiece, Pet Sounds. Twenty years later, a now middle-aged Wilson (John Cusack) is a broken, confused man, and now under the supervision of the tyrannical Dr. Eugene Landy (Paul Giamatti). When Wilson meets car saleswoman Melinda Ledbetter (Elizabeth Banks), Landy finds himself under threat as the controlling influence in the singer's life. Based on the true story of the legendary Brian Wilson, this innovative, acclaimed biopic flits between the 1960s and the 1980s.
