Saturday Studio: Children's Takeover!

For 5+ year olds and their families

August’s Saturday Studio sessions will take inspiration from MK Gallery’s Project Space exhibition, A Game Played in the Galley Over Two Days. Made by three children using things gathered by adults, this exhibition explores children’s play and their interaction with objects and space. The children, Hope (12), Martha (9) and Corin (4) and are part of Townley and Bradby, who together share a collaborative family arts practice. Townley and Bradby have been commissioned by MK Gallery as part of a two-year residency project Playing Out to explore Conniburrow and Central Milton Keynes.

For August’s workshops, Hope, Martha and Corin have commissioned selected artists to create a Saturday Studio session using their individual and collaborative ideas as a starting point for play.

For today’s Saturday Studio, Corin has asked artist Bethany Mitchell to host a session inspired by outdoor games and chants.

"We play because normally Corin does something which is funny and then we use it as a game" (Hope)

City Club

City Club is an ambitious proposal to animate the public spaces surrounding MK Gallery and the northern end of Midsummer Boulevard. For the next 18 months, the Learning team will use the three main themes of City Club (garden, piazza and playground) as a means to explore how we use public space in Milton Keynes and how, as a community, we can engage with MK Gallery’s exciting expansion plans.

Places are limited, and booking essential. Ensure you book the correct number of child tickets for children that you need and adult tickets for adults. The charge is payable on the door, but due to the popularity of the sessions, please reserve your tickets online. Thank you.
