Artists Boyd and Evans talk about the role of trees in their work.

'In this year of the 50th anniversary celebration of the birth of the city in a forest, our attention has been turned to the subject of trees. In this talk we look at their role in our work, from the beginning, which spans over almost 50 years. Sometimes the connection is extremely tenuous, but during a four year period we painted nothing but Borneo trees. In our photographic work, trees have been occasional characters, but lately they have become centre stage again as we search for images in Milton Keynes for mural sized prints.'

Questions will follow the presentation by Fionnuala Boyd and Les Evans.

The Fred Roche Foundation celebrates the life of Fred Roche (1931-1992), who led the team in the 1970s who built the new city of Milton Keynes.  The Foundation endeavors to keep his spirit of creative exploration, innovation and vision alive in Milton Keynes.

He believed in the power – or rather the duty – of architecture to improve society.  If Milton Keynes is one person’s creation, it was Fred Roche’s”.  (Stephen Bayley, The Guardian)
