This January’s Saturday Studio explores one of the most important elements of our city... its people! Borrowing a term used by the Milton Keynes Development Corporation, ‘the people are the city’, we’ll explore personal histories, citizenship and what it means to be part of this place we call Milton Keynes.

What is the childhood experience of Milton Keynes? Where and how do children move around this very particular city, and how can it be improved?

During this hands-on and imaginative sculptural workshop we will be thinking about how children’s experiences and expectations should be accounted for in planning a city - using new and unusual materials. We will think about children’s ‘right to roam’ and new ways to interact with the city in childhood; building on, and re-designing the cityscape to take into account experience from all angles.

City Club

City Club is an ambitious proposal to animate the public spaces surrounding MK Gallery and the northern end of Midsummer Boulevard. For the next 18 months, the Learning team will use the three main themes of City Club (garden, piazza and playground) as a means to explore how we use public space in Milton Keynes and how, as a community, we can engage with MK Gallery’s exciting expansion plans.

Places are limited, and booking essential. Ensure you book the correct number of child tickets for children that you need and adult tickets for adults. The charge is payable on the door, but due to the popularity of the sessions, please reserve your tickets online. Thank you.
