Daniel Guzman: Happiness

Sunday Film Screening

19.11.2005 – 22.1.2006

' Happiness', by the Mexican artist Daniel Guzman reveals the artist's fascination with the interruption of daily life through uncanny actions and small human exchanges. In the film, a traditional Mexican serenade is given a 'rock 'n' roll make-over, its lyrics translated into English and presented as written scripts recalling Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues – arguably the world's first rock video. However, in place of the rock legend Dylan, three young children take centre stage set against a city park backdrop. As the excitement of the initial moments wane the children resort to a game of football, their more favoured means of communication.
