School Art Now 3 - The Way We Live

27 June - 20 July 2003

This week Milton Keynes Gallery has been contacting MK Schools, inviting them to participate in an exhibition of contemporary art by school children from Milton Keynes.

Called School Art Now 3 - The Way We Live, the exhibition will run from 27 June - 20 July, and follows on from the success of last summer’s School Art Now exhibition. The exhibition is being organised by Milton Keynes Gallery, with support from BP Oil UK Limited.

The theme, The Way We Live, has been chosen to link in with national Architecture Week, which this year runs from 20 - 29 June 2003. Work in 2D or 3D can be submitted, and this year MK G would especially like to encourageschools to submit group work in a variety of media reflecting contemporary art practice, including sculpture, installation, video, photography and sound.

As in previous years, MK G’s exhibition includes the opportunity for MK Schools to work with an artist in residence. MK G will be supporting ten artists to work in schools alongside teachers to start off art projects using a variety of media and techniques.

Each residency will last for two days. Open to all Community and Foundation Schools in Milton Keynes, from early years to post-16, the deadline for applications to participate in the exhibition and for artist residencies is Monday 10 March.
