School Art Now 4 & BP Art Challenge

26.6. – 11.7.2004

When I got my first television set, I stopped caring so much about having close relationships.

Once again MK G celebrated the art and creativity of local young people aged 4-18. School Art Now 4 had a different focus to previous years as it entirely featured works produced during a number of artists placements organised by MK G in MK statefunded schools. Working in response to an
Andy Warhol quote, the theme was explored in many different ways using a variety of media.
MK G aims to encourage school/artist collaborations and also organised a ‘Working with an Artist’ Seminar.

In the Cube Gallery, MK G was delighted to present BP Artwork Challenge, which displayed 2D work in a variety of media for BP's annual competition. The exhibition, which explored the theme of Power and Energy, was the third held at MK G showcasing the creative talents of young people from Primary, Middle and Secondary BP Link schools based in and around the Milton Keynes area. The BP School Links Scheme began in 1968, and now operates throughout the UK involving over 200 schools in a mutually beneficial relationship. The BP Artwork Challenge is just one of the activities run by the scheme.

BP is delighted to be supporting this event again this year, and is thrilled to play a part in encouraging young people to develop their creative talents.
