William Hunt

Performance

30.3.2006 – 30.11.1999

This project took place in collaboration with *Rules & Regs.

*Rules and Regs is a platform supporting artists to develop their practice and create new Live Art. Made within a short time frame, the intention is that pieces should represent an approach from which future work might develop. As part of this programme, MK G worked with Hayley Newman and William Hunt to develop new commissions in response to the unique contexts of the gallery and of Milton Keynes.

William Hunt fast gained critical recognition for his performances where the traditional traits of live art practice; endurance, pain and physical exertion collide with the different worlds of the street busker, the protest singer and the 'Rock 'n' Roll' crooner. When the protest song seems all but consumed by the mass-market, Hunt's tragi-comic performances evoke the last embodiment of a personal/political stance. Hunt performed a new work in the gallery space involving water and a wheelie bin.
