Treasures in MK

A remarkable cabinet of curiosities comprising 200 historical and modern artworks and objects borrowed from 60 collections near Milton Keynes, including Old Masters Dürer, Hogarth and Millais; Modern Masters Matisse, Picasso and Warhol plus iconic classics such as an Aston Martin DB4.

Although born in the UK, Melanie Smith has become one of Mexico's most celebrated contemporary artists. Her first UK survey exhibition will include a major new film, Fordlandia (2013), produced in an abandoned city and rubber plantation built in the Amazon in the 1920s by Henry Ford; Spiral City (2003), and Xilitla (2010), which features Surrealist collector Edward James’ architectural follies in the Mexican jungle.

March's Video Space programme explores Hauntology and "Wyrd Britain" with The Owl Séance, a selection of short films conjuring up an ill remembered past, and fragmented memories of a time of both progress and nostalgia.

6 Mar / The Future City Debate: People, Places and Culture One in a series of talks in collaboration with The Fred Roche Foundation, aiming to stimulate creative discussion and debate around subjects that are vital to the growth and vitality of Milton Keynes. 


13 Mar / Architecture Programme: Talk: Dr. Tatjana Schneider - Spatial Agency: Other ways of doing Architecture Spatial Agency proposes an expansive field of opportunities in which architects and non-architects can operate. 


20 Mar / Improv Night An open session for musicians, sound artists and non-musicians interested in exploring improvisation and developing new musical relationships. 


27 Mar / Artist Moving Image programme - Aurélien Froment Often borrowing from theatrical or cinematic conventions, Froment's films weave fact and fiction with unusual narrative devices.

Blood Sport

Saturday Live Music

Gold Codes, Blood Sport plus more TBC

Formed in 2013, Gold Codes make music situated somewhere between Texas, Lagos, 1960s London and the Congo. Blood Sport are a Sheffield three piece, with songs that are complex, challenging and hypnotic.

We are delighted that 6a architects, the practice MK Gallery has appointed to design its building expansion, have been shortlisted for Designs of the Year 2014. They received their nomination in the Architecture category for their façade for renowned British fashion designer Paul Smith, on Albemarle Street, London.
