Video Space

A monthly programme of films and videos in our first floor Video Space.


Throughout March, we’ll be screening a selection of films about the working environment, exploring how work defines boundaries between individuals and society. The films are from the Image at Work exhibition project, shown at Index and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Scratch Nights in March

Every Thursday evening, these events present a broad range of cross-cultural activities.


Highlights include a free life-drawing class, an evening of stories and poems presented by Structo, a documentary on contemporary poet Kenneth Goldsmith and a special 16mm film event, showcasing work by a new generation of film makers. We round off the month with live music from Morviscous, Orion Arm and Tout.

Still, All That Heaven Allows

Friday Night Films

Screenings this month include The Piano, a 1993 drama film about a mute pianist and her daughter, Battleship Potemkin, one of the most important films in the history of silent pictures, two romantic classics All That Heaven Allows, The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant and Three Penny Opera, offering a satirical take on traditional opera.

Our free Parent and Toddler Sessions for under 4’s. This month's activities include making Mother's Day Cards and a rhythm and rhyme workshop.

A weekly programme of artist-led sessions. This month's activities are all inspired by our Festive Road exhibition in the Project Space.

Project Space Exhibition

Festive Road: Transforming the Learning Journey

1 March – 1 April 2012


This March, Milton Keynes based carnival arts organisation Festive Road have taken over our Project Space to showcase the work they've been doing with children and young people from schools in the region. The exhibition includes photos and large scale objects from past costumed carnival parades.

Embroidery Workshop

Taster Day with the Embroiderers' Guild

Saturday 17 March / 10am - 4pm / Free


Drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm, and join the Milton Keynes Embroiderers' Guild as you have a go at a range of embroidery and braiding techniques. You can create your own egg cosy, origami bird or even a decorative Indian bird with a bell.

Olivia Plender’s research-based practice varies from graphic novels to performance, video and installation. At MK Gallery her ‘museum of communication’ will focus on forms of address and education, including games, worlds fairs, television and the internet.
