Four, consecutive week-long solo exhibitions of work by graduating students from around the region.

 

One Platform 2015 exhibitor will be nominated by MK Gallery for the South East regional Platform Graduate Award, for a chance of winning £2,500 and a twelve month mentoring scheme.

3 September / Artists' Moving Image Programme A screening of Wildness, a documentary rooted in the tropical underground of Los Angeles nightlife. 

 

10 September / MK Pioneers: In the Beginning there was Pooleyville A talk by Bill Berrett, an architect who was involved in the early development of Milton Keynes. 

 

17 September / City Club Presentation Artists Gareth Jones and Nils Norman present their proposal to activate public spaces around the gallery. 

 

24 September / Improv Night An open session for musicians, sound artists and non-musicians interested in exploring improvisation.

18 September / Jauja A father and daughter journey from Denmark to a place that exists in a realm beyond the confines of civilisation.

 

25 September / The Salt of the Earth A documentary about photographer Sebastião Salgado.

Laura Cannell, Black Spring, and Unqualified Nurse

Saturday 12 September / Doors 7.30pm / £5

 

Playing over-bowed fiddle and double recorders, Laura Cannell draws on ancient transcendental and earthly musics. Unqualified Nurse play short sharp blasts of garage/punk/no-wave/blues noise and Black Spring are purveyors of primitive electro-acoustic noise.

An immersive audio installation by sound artist Matt Lewis and national deafblind charity Sense. Lewis collaborated for six months with people with sensory impairments in creative sessions involving music making, improvisation, field recordings and composing.

MK Gallery invites you to get involved in its next project by sharing memories, photographs and ephemera from the launch in 1999 to the present day. 


Flashback is the title of a series of archival exhibitions that will be presented online and in MK Gallery’s Project Space during the Gallery’s expansion period. Click here to find out more about Flashback and discover ways that you can contribute.
