This spring MK Gallery presents the first solo exhibition in a UK public gallery of oil paintings by Ellen Altfest (born New York City, 1970). 


The exhibition will span 15 years, including early paintings and recent work.

15 April / Ellen Altfest Drawing Workshop: Session One - Still Life / 10am - 3pm / £25 / Workshops for adults with little or no drawing experience.


27 April / Visual Access Tour / 12noon / Free / An audio described tour of the Ellen Altfest exhibition for blind and partially sighted visitors.

Following on from the hugely successful MK Calling exhibition in the summer of 2013, we are inviting all cultural and creative people connected to Milton Keynes to be involved in a 2015 summer exhibition and events programme.

Sylvia Sleigh: Short interviews

A series of short interviews with the late artist Sylvia Sleigh (1916-2010), a key influence on our current exhibitor Ellen Altfest. Motivated by feminist art principles, she produced a series of celebrated paintings which featured male nudes alluding directly to canonical female nudes.

Transformation: MK College Offender Learning Exhibition

Transformation is a month long exhibition showcasing artworks from seven prisons in the region. The works on display demonstrate the positive influence that education and creativity has had on the lives of the exhibiting prisoners.
