Light Pyramid: A striking new public artwork for Milton Keynes
Work’s nearly complete on the installation of Light Pyramid, a striking new public artwork in Campbell Park by Liliane Lijn. The six metre high sculpture will radiate light at night, to serve as a unique contemporary beacon for Milton Keynes.
The sculpture is dramatically sited at the end of the Belvedere, a man-made structure in Campbell Park. From the Belvedere, the park’s highest point, visitors can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire countryside.
Light Pyramid will be illuminated for the first time at its official unveiling on Monday 4 June at 10.15pm, by The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Catriona Morris, on the night of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. On this unique occasion Light Pyramid will be temporarily linked with a network of over four thousand beacons being lit by communities and others throughout the United Kingdom, Commonwealth and UK Overseas Territories.
