Winners of MK Gallery Young Artist of the Year Award Announced

 
The winners of the inaugural MK Gallery Young Artist of the Year Award, were announced at MK Gallery Project Space yesterday evening (2 July) during the launch of the Young Artist of the Year Award exhibition.


Over 100 entries were received for the new competition for 4-19 year old students in Milton Keynes from eighteen participating schools. Of the total entries, forty-five exhibits were shortlisted by judges Trevor Harris, Schools Liaison Manager for Artswork SE Bridge, John Macpherson, Visual Arts Relationship Manager, Arts Council England in the South East, and artists Caroline Devine and Lee Farmer, and included in the Project Space exhibition. 

 

 

Victoria Mayes, MK Gallery’s Head of Learning, announced the category winners:


Age 4-6 years 

  • Winner: Ryhanna Hanson-Mettle from Longmeadow School, for Sensory Garden
  • Commended: Manraj Singh Thamu from Wavendon Gate School for Looking Down from the Sky

  • Age 7-10 years

  • Winner: Amala Okuzu from Long Meadow School for The Dream Garden
  • Commended: Injila Ocal from The Grove Independent School for Carousel in a Piazza

  • Age 11-14 years

  • Winner: Hanslope Combined School for The Great Xscape
  • Commended: Jessica Mould from St Mary Magdelene for Garden

  • Age 15-19 years

  • Winner: James Sanchez, from Stantonbury Campus for Evolving MK
  • Commended: Chloe McLaughlin from Stantonbury Campus for Winter Trees

    The MK Gallery Young Artist of the Year Award exhibition continues until 26 July. Admission is free.
