Showcase 2011: Spike Wyn-de-Bank

Showcase 2011

Spike Wyn-de-Bank

Gender and the Body

26 - 31 August 2011

University Centre MK Foundation Year student Spike Wyn-de-Bank will present painting, drawing, and mixed media sculpture exploring binary gender and the boundaries of the body. Wyn-de-Bank is concerned to challenge gender roles, both physically and conceptually, for example by laborious sewing (traditionally considered a female preserve) and by using cross-dressing and the abandonment of gender. His work is suffused with his personal exploration of feelings of genderlessness, identity and sexuality. A recent art and design foundation graduate from Milton Keynes College, Wyn-de-Bank will start studying for a BA in Fine Art at Central St Martins, London, this autumn.

Showcase 2011

A series of eight, week-long exhibitions, presenting work by local students and fine art graduates in MK Gallery Project Space.
