Showcase 2011: Tom Calnan

Showcase 2011

Tom Calnan

Mucho Hombre

19 - 24 August

Tom Calnan will be showing a large-scale oil on canvas together with smaller mixed media 2-D work and photomontages. Mucho Hombre, a Hispanic phrase meaning ‘a lot of man’, is Calnan’s project exploring the cultural implications of toys and more precisely My Little Pony, and how they can assist gender and identity formation.  Currently studying for a Masters in Fine Art at Northampton University, Calnan has exhibited nationally and worked as an artist in residence across the Milton Keynes area.  He has work in the Open University Collection and two of his banners, public art commissions for the On the Verge project, are on permanent display in Conniburrow, Milton Keynes.

Showcase 2011
