Support your pupils’ learning, spark their imaginations, and get them up and moving!
This practical session is designed for teachers who want to build confidence and develop new ideas for using movement in lessons across the Primary National Curriculum. The session will support the development of techniques for creative teaching and nurturing pupil creativity. You’ll combine dance and movement with everyday objects and the environment to develop imagination, experimentation, risk taking and collaboration. There are no taught steps and the session is suitable for any skill level or ability. You’ll come away with a range of movement-based ideas that can bring to life lesson starters, activities and plenaries. There will also be a chance to hear about how MK Gallery, Milton Keynes Theatre and MÓTUS can support the arts in your school.
Dancing increases physical activity; sparks creativity; and can develop self-esteem, social relationships and feelings of competence among pupils. Dance-based learning can increase access to curriculum subjects including Maths, Science, Geography and History. It links body and mind and improves brain function on a number of levels.
