Presented by the Fred Roche Foundation

Clear and informed strategies, policies and plans that recognise the impact of global warming, and the need for a low or zero carbon economy will be an essential part of creating a sustainable, healthy and liveable city. MK has a history of low energy design and projects, and a roadmap for a sustainable city to take us forward.

The natural environment, the open space and landscape is one of the prime structuring elements of the city and provides a sound foundation on which to build a coherent, robust and overarching sustainable vision for the future.

This talk initiates the debate about MK’s sustainable future, and an overarching vision with a particular emphasis on housing and buildings that in the UK are responsible for almost half of our carbon emissions, and the need for new and innovative measures that go well beyond the approach of traditional house builders.
